Men’s Soccer Ties Pierce On Late Goal

The SCC Men’s Soccer Team continues to ride an emotional roller-coaster on Saturday against Pierce College, as the team took a late lead, give it up on two quick goals to the Raiders and then scored in the final minute to earn a tie30S_0725s  in the match. SCC in last game, took the lead vs Olympic College in the final 3 minutes, gave up two in goals in two minutes to lose to OC at the NWAACC Friendlies.

After a scoreless first half, where both teams missed several scoring opportunities, SCC’s Owusu Fordjour opened the scoring at the 71th minute with a goal on a rebounded shot. The lead held up for 5 minutes before Pierce tied it up at the 76th minute. Pierce then goes ahead five minutes later, at the 81th minute, but SCC scores in extra time (93rd minute) on a goal by Andrew Powers for the tie just before the final whistle on an assist from Momodou Drammeh.

SCC is now 0-2-1 on the season and face Columbia Basin College on Wednesday at Twin Ponds Field. The Northern and Eastern Regions are mandated to play this year in the NWAACC and this contest will count in the NWAACC Northern Region standings. Game time is 3:15pm.
