Chemeketa Shoot Past Shoreline in High Scoring Affair

Bellevue, WA – The Dolphins opened the Bulldog Classic Tournament with a 136-89 defeat at the hands of Chemeketa Community College Friday night.  Shoreline played a solid game offensively, but could not use their full-court pressure defense to disrupt the Salem storm. The Dolphins only forced 10 turnovers all night and allowed Chemeketa to find easy scoring opportunities throughout the game.

Chemeketa finished the game shooting a shade over 59% from the field, while Shoreline found their range at a 42% clip. The Salem storm also controlled the offensive glass, which contributed to a 24-9 advantage in 2nd chance points for Chemeketa. Shoreline typically gains control of the turnover and rebounding battles throughout the game due to their up-tempo style of play that forces the opponent into uncomfortable situations. On this night, Chemeketa was able to break the press and find multiple opportunities thanks to solid ball control and second chance put-backs.

Shoreline was led by first-year Bronte Corbray (Fr, Seattle, WA) who continued his hot-streak from the field with a season-high 30 points on 50% shooting and 7 of 13 from long distance. While watching practice last week it was evident that Corbray has found his confidence from the floor and look for him to continue his breakout scoring performances in the games to come.

Earl Thompson (So, Las Vegas, NV) has not lost a step as he contributed 23 points on 10 of 20 shooting in only 30 minutes of court time. Thompson has provided the Dolphins with a consistent scoring threat from inside and out as he continues to provide match-up nightmares to each opponent Shoreline faces. No other Shoreline player finished in double-figure scoring.

Chemeketa was led by Bryce White’s 30 points. Five other players for the Salem storm finished in double figure scoring to round out the balanced attack from Chemeketa.
