Dolphins Come Back Falls Short

D7A_2056Shoreline Women’s Basketball was able to overcome a 20 plus point deficit to take the game into overtime. In a nail biting triple overtime the Dolphins could not hold on and fell to Olympic 85-81.

Olympic started hot from behind the arch hitting six – three point shots in the first half that gave them a quick lead. Shoreline continued to fight but with the early hole the first half ended with a score of 44-22 Olympic.

A different team started the second half. With strong intensity on defense and the quick scoring of Emily Wilbur and Breyana Dutro the Dolphin cut the lead down one possession at a time. With strong drives to the basket Shoreline tied it up and the game was headed into overtime.

In the first overtime Olympic pulled ahead but with the final seconds ticking down Beyana Dutro hit a huge three point shot to keep the Dolphins alive.

The second overtime was a back-and-forth affair with both teams showing a strong defensive effort. Once again we ending the second overtime in a draw at a score of 75-75.

As we headed into the third overtime. Both teams were showing signs of exhaustion as both teams had fouled out players. Midway through the overtime Olympic hit two quick baskets to take the lead. Shoreline wasn’t able to come back and fell to a final score of 85-81.

Shoreline was led by Breyana Dutro with 25 points. Wilbur also played strong with her second double-double in region scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals. Justice Perry also had a strong presence with seven steals and bringing down 11 rebounds.

The Dolphins are now 0-3 in region and 2-9 overall. They move on to play Skagit Valley College this Wednesday, January 13, 2014. Join us at 5:30pm for the women’s game and 7:30pm for the Dolphin men’s team.
