For those of you following at home, sophomore Adam Johnson represented Shoreline at the Sophomore All-Star game held at Clackamas CC last weekend. He played on a North squad that demolished the squad repping the South 145-105. The Ballard native scored 8 while grabbing 12 boards, dishing out 3 assists, and stealing the ball twice. Well done Adam!!
Baseball took 3 of 4 over the weekend from Vancouver Island. The Phins scored 28 runs on Saturday while giving up 4 in 2 wins. In game 1, Brad Bennett threw 7 complete, allowing 6 hits and zero runs while striking out 5 and walking 1 for the win. Cody Wolfe goes 2-5 with 3 RBI’s and a triple. The team scores 11 on 15 hits and win 11-0. In game 2, the Phins score 9 in the first inning and go on to win 17-4. Peter Pennylegion, TJ McCullough, & Ben Kussie all get 3 RBI’s apiece.
On day 2, Myles Gouviea guts out 6.2 innings, striking out 6 while walking 4 and allowing 1 run on 1 hit. Max Dwyer picks up his first save of the season, striking out 5 of the 7 hitters he faced. Phins win 2-1. In the last game of the series, Phin pitching struggled, giving up 6 runs on 6 hits, while the defense had 3 errors. All three Phin runs were brought in by Jacob Zanon on a 3rd inning home run.
Shoreline is 8-4 and travels over the mountains this weekend to play Walla Walla and Blue Mountain. First home game is next Tuesday, March 24th at 10:30am & 12:30pm. The games will be played at Lower Woodland.
Softball traveled to Auburn to play Green River on Wednesday. The ladies started well, taking a 5-2 lead into the 6th. The Gators scored 2 in the 6th to bring it to 5-4. Sarah Casel scores after a couple GR errors to make it 6-4. However, the bottom of the 7th, a Phin error to put on the lead-off hitter starts a 3-run rally, including a walk-off single and Gators win 7-6.
In game 2, the Phins explode for 12 runs on 15 hits and the defense goes error-less. Taylor Gower gets the win, throwing a complete game, while going 3-5 at the plate with 3 RBI’s with 2 doubles. Alexis Wade adds 3 RBI’s of her own, going 3-4 with 2 doubles. Phins win 12-9.
Next game for the Lady Phins is this weekend when the team travels to Portland for an inter-region tournament.
