The Surf Report – April 1

|  THE SURF REPORT | SHORELINE, WASHINGTON | ISSUE 17 | VOLUME 1 |

Shoreline hitters faced two of the best pitchers in the North and those pitchers mostly shut down the Phin offense yesterday.  The Phins traveled across the border to our northern neighbors and faced Douglas College in a Northern Region tilt.

In game 1, the Royals jumped all over starter Brittany Krampert.  Scoring 2 on three straight singles, Douglas was up 2-0 early. They scored 5 more in the 2nd before Shoreline put up a 2 spot in the top of the 3rd.  Hannah Baisch scores the speedy Sarah Casel, who stole her 11th base of the season just prior to Baisch’s single.  Later in the inning, Emily Jackson scores on a Madeline Roberts single.

However, the DC offense was too strong.  Royals win 12-2.  The Shoreline defense committed 12 errors.

In game 2, Shoreline scores first on an Emily Jackson double.  They’ll score 2 more in the 5th on a Brittany Krampert single and an Royal error.  DC scores 11 runs on 11 hits to win 11-3.  Casel goes 2-4 with 2 runs scored and 3 stolen bases.  She now leads the league in stolen bases with 14.  She also is 5th in batting average overall with .519.

The Phins travel to Olympic on Saturday for a duo with games at 1pm and 3pm.

Phins baseball opens league play on Saturday against Bellevue.  They play at BC at 1 & 3pm before hosting the Bulldogs on Sunday at Meridian at 1 & 4pm.
