The Phins enjoyed a packed weekend of action as our Fall Sports teams gear up for North Region play. Volleyball participated in the Gator Classic at Green River Community College on September 4th and 5th. The Phins played four matches over two days and came away with a 2-2 record on the weekend. In their first match the Phins got a straight set win over Lower Columbia (25-17, 25-13, 25-15). The second match on Friday saw the Phins take the first set against Tacoma 25-17 only to drop the next three and lose. On Saturday the Phins started the day with a touch loss to Grays Harbor (25-13, 19-25, 22-25, 14-25), but bounced back with a victory over host Green River (25-12, 25-20, 25-18). Kristina Nielson was named to the All-Tournament team for the Phins. After the weekend results the Phins currently hold an overall record of 6-3. Next up Volleyball begins their home schedule with a game against Grays Harbor at 5pm on Tuesday, September 8th.

Men’s Soccer hosted their first home game and last pre-Region game of the season on Saturday, September 5th against Bellevue College. The Phins physical defense was on display with strong performances from CB Erik Nothstein and GK Jerry Reyes-Ortega. Reyes-Ortega finished the game with 4 big saves and a shutout. Unfortunately the Phins missed out on a few solid chances created and had to settle for a 0-0 draw. This brings the Phins overall record to 0-0-2 heading into Region play. Next up Shoreline hosts North Region powerhouse Peninsula College on Saturday, September 12th at 3pm.

Women’s Soccer traveled down to Green River to take on the Gators on Friday, September 4th. The Phins recorded their second clean sheet in a row on their way to a 2-0 victory. Chelsea Foster opened her account on the year with a goal in the 22nd minute off an assist from McKenna Murray. Mikayla Morgan added an insurance goal in the 62nd minute off an assist from Tayler Lime. With the result the Phins improved to 2-1-1 heading into North Region play. Women’s Soccer is the opening match of a soccer doubleheader as they host Peninsula College on Saturday, September 12th at 12:30pm.
