The Surf Report – October 19th


On Saturday, October 17th the Men’s and Women’s Soccer programs traveled to Port Angeles to take on Peninsula College. The Pirates are top of the North Region table in both Men’s and Women’s soccer.

Women’s Soccer opened the doubleheader with a tough road loss to the Pirates. Peninsula scored a KilyoZKZvaD4fpqmTfsRI7I80Jei4B85KItqqiFUimQgoal off a set piece in each half to come away with a 2-0 victory. The loss drops the Phins into 4th place two points behind Whatcom for the last NWAC playoff spot. The loss brings Shoreline’s record to 6-7-2 on the year and 4-6-1 with 13 points in region.

The Phins travel to Skagit Valley on Wednesday, October 21 for a road match at 2pm. On Saturday, October 24th the Phins host Edmonds at 12:30pm. Both matches will have a number of playoff implications.

Men’s Soccer dropped their game to Peninsula by the same scoreline of 0-2. The Pirates jumped out to an early lead with a goal in the 2nd minute then put the game away early with a goal in the 46th minute. The loss places the Phins 1 point out of 3rd place and the NWAC playoffs. Shoreline currently has 13 9-4EgOJ-S0LV5ip5TZeslDQjE6fT4zu2i7n6jwmyxrIpoints trailing both Edmonds and Skagit with 14. The phins are now 3-4-7 on the year and 3-4-4 in North Region play.

The Men’s Soccer program has a huge week as they take on both teams directly ahead of them in the North Region standings. On Wednesday, October 21st the Phins travel to Skagit Valley for a 4:15pm kick off. On Saturday, Ocotber 24th Shoreline hosts Edmonds at 3pm.

Volleyball competed in the NWAC Crossover at Lower Columbia College over the weekend. On Friday, October 16th the Phins took on 2 ranked teams as well as another program receiving votes in the latest Alaska Airlines NWAC Coaches Poll. The Phins are currently ranked 5th and defeated 8th ranked Walla Walla (22-25, 25-20, 15-13) before dropping games to unranked Lower Columbia (22-25, 25-17, 7-15) and  3rd ranked Linn Benton (12-25, 20-25). On Saturday Shoreline dropped a match to 2nd ranked Tacoma (19-25, 25-20, 16-25, 14-25) and Everett 25-UkuAw_AYD812rTX2GCFh04-pn3AU1VRn1XWK4nJwAXU18, 17-25, 11-15). Carlie Howard wa snamed to the all-tournament team.

Next up for the Phins is the second round of North Region play with a road match at Everett on Wednesday, October 21st at 7pm. The Phins host Bellevue on Friday, October 23rd at 7pm. The 5th ranked Phins are currently in 2nd place in the North region behind Bellevue by one game. Their record on the year is 20-9 and 5-1 in region.
