Volleyball hosted Olympic College on Monday, October 26th. The Phins came into the match in a 3 way tie for 1st place in the North Region with Bellevue and Skagit Valley. With just 4 games remaining in North Region play every single match counts down the stretch.
Shoreline was coming off a huge come from behind victory over Bellevue on Friday night that created the 3 way tie in region. Their great play from Friday night continued through the first set as the Phins jumped out to a 25-14 victory. Olympic would not go quietly and tied the match at a set a piece with a 25-18 victory. After intermission both teams battled, but the Phins were able to squeak out two close set victories (25-21, 26-24) to take the match 3-1.
Shoreline was led by Kristina Nielsen’s 10 kills and 5 blocks. Taylor Alexander led the team with 18 digs and added 8 kills as well as 3 blocks. A’laisia Redden had 17 digs. Anya Golubitskikh recorded 8 kills and 5 blocks. Setter Carlie Howard led the team with 30 assists.
With the victory the Phins remain in a 3 way tie for first place in the North Region. They travel to Whatcom on Wednesday, October 28th for a 7pm match. The next home match for the Phins is Wednesday, November 4th at 7pm against Skagit Valley. This will be a battle for first place as well as Sophomore night. It is also our Volleyball Spirit Night where we will be out to “Pack the Stands for the Green and Gold”. Former Phins will be honored for their contributions to the Shoreline Athletic Department.
