The Surf Report – North Region Champions Edition


Anya KillOn Tuesday, November 10th the Shoreline Dolphins Volleyball team traveled to Edmonds for their final North Region match up of the season. Shoreline had already locked up at least a share of the North Region title and a win against Edmonds would give the Phins the title outright.

Shoreline wasted little time asserting themselves as they took the first setHoward Set by a dominating score of 25-13. In the second set Edmonds took an early lead of 10-3, but Shoreline battled back to win 25-18. The Phins finished their straight sets sweep with a 25-20 third set victory. The Phins relied on another great team performance led by the attacking trio of Kristina Nielsen, Taylor Alexander and Anya Golubitskikh. Nielsen led with 12 kills, followed by Alexander’s 11 kills and 7 digs, and Golubitskikh’s 8 kills and 3 digs. The defense was led by A’Laisia Redden’s 17 digs. Kyla Pitzman returned to the lineup to provide 3 kills and Malia Parilla added 3 defensive digs. Josephine Redden DigDalrymple had a nice all around game with 6 kills and 7 digs. Setter Carlie Howard had 39 assists and 3 kills of her own.

The win gives the Dolphins their first North Region championship since back to back titles in 2010 and 2011. The Phins are currently ranked 6th in the NWAC Alaska Airlines Coaches Poll and as the #1 seed from the North Alexander BlockRegion will take on the 4th seed from the West Region at 2:00pm on November 19th. The NWAC Championship tournament is being held at the Tacoma Convention Center from November 19-22. Shoreline enters the tourney with an overall record of 25-10 and a 10-2 North Region record.
