The Surf Report – January 27th

Men’s and Women’s Basketball hosted Everett in crucial North Region contests on Wednesday, January 27th. Read up on your Phins below!

Shoreline CC Women's basketball team hosts Olympic CollegeMen’s Basketball took on the high powered Everett Trojans and struggled from the jump to slow them down. Everett shot 60% from the field in the first half on their way to a 55-31 lead. The Phins could not muster much of a fight in the second half either as Everett rode their hot shooting to a 107-72 final score. In the loss the Phins were led in scoring by Joe Ghebrehiwot’s 23 points. Devan Jackson added 15 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Torrence Baker led the team with 9 rebounds and added 14 points.

The loss drops the Phins to 7-10 overall and 2- 4 in the North Region. Next up Shoreline will travel to Peninsula College on Saturday, January 30th to finish out the first round of North Region play. Shoreline currently sits in a tie for 6th place, two games behind a coveted NWAC playoff berth.

Women’s Basketball controlled their first half against Everett taking a 3 point lead into the intermission. In the second half the Phins could not take care of the basketball leading to Everett’s 26 Shoreline CC Women's basketball team hosts Olympic Collegepoints off turnovers. Shoreline could only score 16 points in the second half and dropped the game 46-65. The Phins were led in scoring by Enjunay Jones-Lee with 15 points to go with her 5 boards. Darrien Dolquist-Larson scored 12 points and Janaya Williams added 10.

The loss moves the Phins to 4-11 overall and 2-4 in the North Region. The Phins are currently in 5th place just 2 games back of Everett for 4th. The Women travel to Peninsula on Saturday, January 30th for a big game against defending NWAC Champion Peninsula College.
