The Surf Report – May 17th

Shoreline CC Softball hosts Skagit Valley CollegeSoftball had a busy weekend with doubleheaders against Bellevue College and Skagit Valley College. The Sunday doubleheader against Skagit Valley marked the last home game of the season and the final time 5 Sophomores would take the field at Meridian Park. Coming into the weekend Softball sat in prime position to qualify for the NWAC Playoffs with an at large bid. See how the Phins did in this week’s Surf Report!

On Saturday, May 14th the Phins traveled to Bellevue to take on the 1st Place Bulldogs. In game 1 the Phins struggled to get anything going offensively as they went scoreless through the first 6 innings. Bellevue scored 2 runs in the 1st inning and never lost the lead on their way to a 7-1 victory over the Phins. The Phins were held to 5 hits and scored their only run when Sarah Casel knocked in Jeralyn Pasoquen in the top of the 7th. In Game 2 Shoreline scored 3 runs in the top of the 1st inning to take their first lead of the day. Bellevue scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st and took the lead with a 5 run 3rd inning. The Phins would add 3 more runs in the top of the 5th, but Bellevue extended their lead eventually pulling away for a 15-6 win. The Phins got home runs from Shelby Reyes and Kathryn Goff as well as a double from Emily Jackson.Shoreline CC Softball hosts Skagit Valley College

On Sunday, May 15th the Phins hosted Skagit Valley in the final home doubleheader of the season at Meridian. Shoreline honored their 5 Sophomores prior to the game. Sarah Casel, Emily Jackson, Chelsea Foster, Madeline Roberts, and Megan Bruce have been instrumental along with Head Coach Ben Reindel in turning the Softball program into an NWAC Playoff team. In game 1 on Sunday the Phins wasted no time taking control. Shoreline led 8-2 after two innings and cruised to a 14-6 victory. Pasoquen hit her first home run and joined Casel, Jackson and Aubri Burmood with a double. Seven different Phins had an RBI in the offensive explosion. Game 2 picked up right where game 1 left off as the Phins scored 10 runs in the 1st inning. Dakta Green only allowed 1 run in 5 innings as the Phins celebrated their Sophomores with a 15-1 win. Cheyanne Garcia and Alyssa Giesbers each had home runs in this game. Chelsea Foster and Pasoquen added doubles and another 7 Phins had an RBI.

Shoreline CC Softball hosts Skagit Valley CollegeThe weekend split moved Shorelone to 14-16 overall and 8-10 in the North Region. The Phins finish their regular season schedule with a trip to Mt. Vernon, Tuesday, May 17th to take on Skagit Valley. Shoreline is currently 10th overall according to the NWAC RPI. Check back tomorrow for NWAC Playoff information!
