This was the first trip to the playoffs for the Softball team since 2012. The Phins finished their North Region schedule in 3rd place with an overall record of 16-16 and a Region record of 10-10. Shoreline qualified as an at-large bid with the 10th seed according to RPI.

The Phins took on #7 seeded North Idaho in their first contest of the double elimination tournament on Friday, May 20th. North Idaho was an automatic qualifier after winning the East Region with a 26-6 record and a 35-13 record overall. After a scoreless 1st inning for both teams the Phins got their first hit of the game from Jeralyn Pasoquen. Pasoquen advanced to 3rd after back to back sacrifice hits. Chelsea Foster was next up and drew a walk to give the Phins runners at 1st and 3rd with Sarah Casel at the plate. Foster attempted to steal 2nd base and on the North Idaho throw down Pasoquen sprinted home, but North Idaho was able to cut their throw and catch Pasoquen at the plate.Shoreline CC Softball hosts Skagit Valley College

The Phins held North Idaho once again in the bottom of the 2nd inning and were tied 0-0 heading into the 3rd. But Shoreline was unable to get anything going offensively as they did not have another base-runner over the course of innings 3 through 5. North Idaho broke the tie with 1 run in the bottom of the 3rd then capitalized on a Shoreline error to score 7 runs in the bottom of the 4th. The Phins dropped their first game by a score of 8-0.

The loss dropped the Phins to the losers bracket of the NWAC Championships and a match up with the #2 seeded Cougars of Clackamas. Clackamas finished 2nd in the South Region, but #2 overall in the NWAC RPI. They dropped their first game of the tournament to the West Region Champion Centralia Trailblazers by a score of 6-5. Shelby Reyes opened the scoring in game 2 as she hit a solo home run in the top of the 1st inning to give the Phins their first lead of the tournament. Clackamas scored in the bottom of the 1st to tie the game 1-1. Clackamas added another run in the 3rd inning, but the Phins came right back in the top of the 4th with another solo home run this time from Drew Camacho. The game remained tied as neither team scored in the 5th. In the bottom of the 6th Clackamas got their lead off hitter on base following a single. A sacrifice hit moved the runner to 2nd and a Shoreline error allowed her to reach 3rd base. The next batter scored the runner on a sacrifice fly giving Clackamas a 3-2 lead heading into the 7th inning. In the top of the 7th the Phins got 2 runners on base but couldn’t get the needed hit to bring them home. The Phins were eliminated by a score of 3-2.
