Wednesday Region Recap

Another busy and successful Wednesday is in the books for the Phins. The North Region schedule is drawing to a close for all three programs and all three remain in the NWAC Playoffs hunt.

Volleyball hosted Everett on Wednesday, October 19th as they began the final round of North Region Shoreline CC volleyball team hosts Everett CCplay. The Phins came into the match riding a 3 game winning streak following the Bellevue Crossover. Shoreline continued their hot streak with a dominating sweep of Everett (25-9, 25-14, 25-20). The Phins got contributions from everyone on the roster in what was a true team victory. Taylor Alexander led the team with 10 kills. Carlie Howard had 31 assissts and 7 digs. Julia Clack led the team with 9 digs.

The Phins are now 13-12 overall and 5-2 in the North Region. The Phins travel to Bellevue on Friday, October 21st to take on the first place Bulldogs. The Phins’ next home game is Wednesday, October 26th at 7pm against Whatcom as part of our last Fall Sports Triple Header of the year.

Women’s Soccer hosted Skagit Valley on Wednesday and wasted no time in taking control of the game. Sophomore Tayler Lime recorded a brace in the first 15 minutes with back to back goals in the 13th and 15th minutes. Lex Simmons scored immediately after Lime with a goal from a deep free kick in the 16th minute. The Phins stayed quiet for the rest of the first half, but continued their goal scoring in the 53rd minute when Freshmen Makenzie Shoreline CC Women's Soccer hosts Whatcom CCSjoden cut in from the right side and used her left foot to shoot past the Skagit Valley goalie. Simmons scored her second goal of the game – this time from the penalty spot. Madisson Lowdon finished the goal scoring for the Phins with a strike in the 78th minute.

Women’s Soccer is now 7-4-3 on the year and 5-4-3 in the North Region. The Phins travel to Edmonds on Saturday, October 22nd and their last home game of the seaosn is Wednesday, October 26th at 2pm against Everett. The Phins are currently in 3rd place in the North Region with 3 Region games remaining.

Men’s Soccer went down early to Skagit Valley giving up a goal in the 9th minute off a corner kick. The Phins then went down a man in the 42nd minute, but continued to battle back and tied the game at 1 with a finish from Austin Burton in the 64th minute. Eight minutes later Skagit Valley again took the lead with a goal following a counter attack that led to a chance from the just inside the box. The Phins went down another man in the 83rd minute, but had a chance to tie in the 90th minute when the Phins drew aShoreline CC Men's Soccer hosts Everett CCpenalty following a period of great possesion. Unfortunately the Skagit Valley Goalkeeper came up with a big save to secure 3 points for the Cardinals.

The Phins are now 5-0-9 overall and 4-0-8 in the North Region. They are currently 8 points out of 3rd place and will need to take all 9 points from their remaining fixtures. The Phins travel to Edmonds on Saturday, October 22nd and host Everett on Wednesday, October 26th at 4:15pm.
