Volleyball is rounding into post season form as the North Region schedule comes to an end. On Wednesday, November 2nd the Phins traveled to Skagit Valley for their second to last Region match-up. In one of the most difficult places to play in the North Region the Phins were comfortable from the start. Shoreline won the first set 25-20 and would not let Skagit Valley any closer on the way to a sweep. The Phins won the last two sets by the same score of 25-19.
Shoreline was led offensively by Sophomore Taylor Alexander’s 12 kills. Kristina Nielsen and Kyla Pitzman added 9 and 7 kills, respectively. Setter Carlie Howard recorded 33 assists. Julia Clack led the way defensively with 15 digs.
The Phins are now 17-12 overall with a 9-2 record in the North Region, but the story is in their form since a loss to Edmonds on October 12th. Since that loss the Phins are on an 8 match winning streak where they have only dropped two sets. The Phins host Edmonds on Tuesday, November 8th in both their last home match of the season as well as the last North Region match. Shoreline will honor their talented Sophomore class prior to the match against Edmonds. The Phins have an outside chance at repeating as champions of the North Region as they sit just one game back of Bellevue.
