The Shoreline Dolphins Volleyball team qualified for their second straight trip to the NWAC Volleyball Championship at the Tacoma Convention Center November 17th-20th. The Phins come into the double elimination tournament ranked #9 in the latest NWAC Under Armour Volleyball Coaches Poll after a dominating finish to their regular season. Shoreline is on a 9 match winning streak in which they have only lost 2 sets. The strong run to close out their season solidified the Phins 2nd place finish in the North Region and a match up with the #3 seed from the South Region the Chemeketa Storm.
The Phins have faced the Storm once this season during the opening weekend at the NWAC Fall Festival. Chemeketa won that match 3-0 by set scores of 25-16, 25-18, and 25-21. The Storm have a 15-11 record on the year and a 9-5 record in the tough South Region. The Storm are led by Outside Hitter Taija Jones who has 208 kills on the season. Libero Tory Bennett leads the defense with 4.45 digs per set.
Shoreline boasts a lineup that includes North Region MVP Taylor Alexander and All North Region First Team Setter Carlie Howard. Middle Blocker Kristina Nielsen made the All North Region Second Team and the remaining members of the Phintastic Five Sophomores, Kyla Pitzman and Josie Dalrymple, will represent the Phins in the Sophomore All Star game. Freshmen Ashlee Conklin, Elizabeth Malmgren and Julia Clack look to make a strong impression in their first NWAC Championship.
