Volleyball entered the NWAC Championships as one of the hottest teams in the NWAC riding a 9 match winning streak over the course of the final month of the season. Unfortunately the Phins went cold at the least opportune time dropping matches to Chemeketa and Highline to drop out of the double elimination tourney.
Shoreline opened the tourney with the 3rd seed from the South Region the Chemeketa Storm. The Phins dropped the first 2 sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-17. Shoreline came back in the 3rd set with a dominating 25-14 win to force a 4th set. In the 4th set Chemeketa took back control and won the set 25-16 and the match 3-1.
The Phins dropped to the loser out bracket with a difficult match up with Highline. The Phins were swept by set scores of 25-17 and 25-16. Shoreline was led throughout the tournament by North Region MVP Taylor Alexander. Alexander had 49 kills, 5 service aces and 19 digs over two matches. Carlie Howard recorded 49 assists and 14 digs for the tourney. Kristina Nielsen had 42 kills and Kyla Pitzman added 30 kills.
The Phins finish their season with an overall record of 18-14 and 10-2 in the North Region. The Phintastic Five Sophomores will be moving on, but Shoreline returns 8 Freshmen for the 2017 season.
