Men’s and Women’s Basketball hosted Olympic College on Saturday, February 25th in their penultimate game of the season. Women’s Basketball entered their contest having been eliminated from NWAC Tourney contention in their loss to Bellevue College on Wednesday, February 22nd. Playing for pride the Phins used a dominating 1st quarter to cruise to a 70-60 victory. Shoreline jumped out to a 25-11 1st quarter lead then played olypic even over the remainder of the game for the win.
The aggressive Phins offense got to the free throw line 26 times where they converted 20. Shoreline had 4 players in double figures led by Enjunay Jones-Lee and her 21 points to go with 6 assists. The back court tandem of Brea Woods and Janaya Williams combined for 24 points. Dani Hayes reached double figures with 10 points to go with 5 assists and 4 steals. paris Sanders led the Phins with 13 rebounds and added 7 points.
The win takes the Phins to 6-7 in the North Region and 9-14 overall. Shoreline will honor their Sophomores on Wednesday, March 1st in their game against Everett. Tip off is 5:30pm in The Aquarium.
Men’s Basketball entered their game on Saturday night riding a 7 game win streak with an opportunity to clinch a share of the North Region title. The Phins didn’t have their best offensive performance shooting just 41% from the field, 32% from 3 and 47% from the free throw line on the night. However Shoreline relied on their league leading defense to hold Olympic to just 53 points on the night. The Phins won 75-53 clinching a share of the North Region championship.
Shoreline was led by Dana Abe’s 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Will Luckett led the team with 10 rebounds to go with his 5 points. Anddrew Hawkins scored 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. CJ Bussey came off the bench to score 11 points.
Shoreline is now 10-3 in the North Region and 17-7 overall. The Phins have clinched a share of the North Region title and guaranteed an NWAC Tourney spot. If the Phins win their last regular season game against Everett they will win the North Region and the #1 seed for the NWAC Tournament. Shoreline will honor their Sophomores just before tip off on Wednesday night at 7:30pm before taking on Everett.
