This Week in #PhinNation! 9.18.17

September 18, 2017

Volleyball– Shoreline Volleyball traveled to Everett Community College this weekend Saturday September 16th and Sunday September 17th for the Trojan Invitational Tournament. On Saturday, the Phin’s matched up against the University of Fraser Valley from British Columbia in an exhibition match in which SCC dropped 2-1. On Sunday, the Phin’s started bracket play losing game 1 to Walla Walla 3-0 which sent them to the consolation bracket. Shoreline rebounded well in their next match defeating Green River 2-0. Shoreline finished up the consolation bracket dropping the finale to Pierce 2-1. This week NWAC North region play begins Wednesday as the Phin’s travel up to Skagit Valley for a 7pm start Wednesday before coming home to face Edmonds Friday night at 7pm. Reminder: Be there, be loud & Phin’s Up!

Women’s Soccer– The Women’s Soccer team has had an impressive week of play having gone 2-0 this week defeating Skagit Valley 1-0 on Wednesday September 13th and Edmonds 2-1 on Saturday September 16th. The Phin’s are improving steadily thanks to a monster week from mid fielder Brooklyn Gratzer. Gratzer had the lone goal vs. Skagit Valley, a left foot 30 yard floater to the top left corner of the goal. Gratzer also had a right foot 35

yarder as well as a header scoring both goals Saturday vs. Edmonds. The sophomore captain has had 3 goals in two matches this week and should be getting serious consideration for NWAC Player of the week.

Men’s Soccer– The Men’s Soccer team played Skagit Valley and Edmonds this week also. The men lost 4-1 to Skagit and came back Saturday to earn the 1-1 tie versus Edmonds. Svenn Helleren scored his first of the year Wednesday and Hector Martines scored his 5th goal on the year on Saturday. The Phin’s are showing promise this season, once consistent the men will be a force in the North down the stretch.

Both Men and Women Soccer take on Everett CC on Wednesday here at SCC, game times are 2 & 4:15 PM. Saturday both teams travel to Whatcom CC for a Noon & 2:15 kick off.

Go Phins!
