Volleyball Season Ends in Tacoma

The Shoreline Volleyball season came to an end Thursday November 15th, dropping two matches. The first match was against the #1 seed from the east region North Idaho who came in with the #2 ranking in the latest NWAC Coaches Poll. The Phin’s dropped the match 3-0, then had to rebound and play a loser out match later that night at 8:15pm. The ladies went up against Lower Columbia and in a best out of three elimination match dropped the match, 2-0. Leading the way for the Dolphins Thursday night was 2nd team North Region All Star Ashlee Conklin with 22 kills and 18 digs on the evening in both matches combined. 1st team All Star Julia Clack led the squad in digs with 26. Both players will participate in the All Star match on Sunday in Tacoma.

As the Dolphins look forward to 2018 they lose five sophomore’s three of which led the team in points per set; Ashlee Conklin, Errin Hendrickson and Sydney Keller. The also lose their 1st team libero Julia Clack and Sophomore setter Aliah Kim. The Phin’s return five freshmen including defensive specialist Mariah Luedtke, right side hitters Hannah Hedberg and Qin Wang, setter Alyssa Korth and outside hitter Yandira Zuniga.

The Phin’s overall record was 14-23 (6-6) in North Region taking 4th place and a spot in the NWAC Championship tournament. The Phin’s ended the regular season playing well winning their final three matches and will have a lot to build on in 2018.
