Men’s Basketball Notches Big Win Over Whatcom

January 13, 2018

SHORELINE, WA

Saturday January 13th Shoreline Men’s Basketball Coach Aaron Skeem and co. picked up their first NWAC North Region victory knocking off the Whatcom Orcas. It was a big win because on Wednesday January 10th Whatcom beat Everett who at the time had been 13-3 and #2 in the latest NWAC Coaches Poll. Whatcom’s Alex Martin had a team high 27 points for Whatcom but the Dolphins were able to hold down the rest of the team. As for Shoreline, Terrell Brown, Jr. led all scores with 33 points and also added 12 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals. Point Guard Darnell Barry had 21 points and 7 assists, Jerome Domingos had 4 points and picked up 12 boards as well. Savon Miles threw in 11 points to help lead the Dolphins. Shoreline jumped out and controlled the game for the whole first half even with Whatcom shooting a higher percentage from the floor. The Dolphin’s pace of play on offense and defense helped them get 14 more shots in the half. Hats off to Whatcom as the second half rolled around the Orcas made some big adjustments and as we were mid way through the 2nd half, looked up and WCC was up nine. Darnell Barry scored 17 of his 21 in the second half and proved to be the difference maker for the Phin’s as they found their second wind and played great defense down the stretch to win and improve to 1-1 in North Region play.

The road doesn’t get any easier as the Phin’s head to rival Edmonds CC Wednesday, January 17th at 7pm. Edmonds is #3 in the Coaches Poll.
